As I sit here and contemplate the right words to write, I have one thought that continues to permeate my brain. Opportunity! Unusual I know, but my family would tell you that I am always coming up with unusual thoughts. LOL
In these crazy times we have all been faced with the opportunity to shine! My question to you is this: Have you taken advantage of this opportunity to shine? Have you made those good decisions to protect your health and the health of your family? Have you taken this opportunity to be constructive and helpful around the house? Have you taken this opportunity to bond a little tighter with the significant people in your life? Students, have you been diligent in staying up-to-date with your schoolwork?
If you could answer yes to all of these questions then I say, “Great Job!! Keep it up!!” If the answer to any of these questions is “no” then there is great news for you! You still have time. This incredible time in our lives is not over. There is still a great need for you to be careful and protect your own health and that of your loved one’s! There is still opportunity for you to help out around the house and get a little closer to those that you love. And students, there is still time for you to get some serious academic progress made and some credits completed.
Seniors, you are the ones that I cannot stop thinking about. I am so very sorry that you have been deprived of the Spring of your Senior year. But it serves as another opportunity in your education. You have the opportunity to take a negative and turn it into a positive. Disappointment is a part of life and how you handle that disappointment will help to shape the quality of your life. My challenge to you is to take this situation, work extremely hard to make the best of it, and take it with you into your future so that you can handle life’s disappointments and not let them negatively affect the quality of your life.
The first thing that you can do is to take advantage of a little bit of extra time and make sure that you complete all academic requirements so that you can take part in the Huston Academy Graduation Ceremony which will happen at 6:00 pm on Friday, June 19, 2020. More details will be coming soon, but the day, date, and time are set. Please understand that there many details to be considered and evaluated in this planning process and we will provide you as many details as possible, as soon as possible. Also, please prepare for the possibility that there will be some type of limit on the number of people who will be able to attend the ceremony. So, take advantage of this opportunity, get to work, and make sure that you can participate in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!! Mike Scott, Superintendent
