Given the rapidly evolving situation with the novel coronavirus, or COVID-19, Huston Academy will extend school closure and continue remote instruction through Friday, April 10th. We do this in an effort to support our state and nation’s need to slow the spread of COVID-19. Our health officials report that cases are continuing to spread in the state, and the appearance of confirmed cases in Erath County seems likely. Suspending operations for this length of time will allow us to determine, in coordination with local health officials, whether the virus is having the effect on the community that is anticipated or whether it has been contained. We are coordinating with other school districts in the area and will use the week of April 6th to make any decisions on whether there is a need to extend this suspension further. In an effort to help you prepare please be advised that if there is a need to continue the suspension at that time, we have been advised that it would likely be for at least 3 more weeks beyond April 13th.
Our teachers will continue to support our students in multiple ways in the online environment. Please reach out to Mrs. Taylor if you are having any issues making contact with your teachers. Students please continue to make school a priority during this time. It is important that you continue to make academic progress and move closer to the fulfillment of your goals.
