Dear Huston Family,
The past 48 weeks have been some of the most trying of most our lives. On March 13, 2020 the Coronavirus pandemic changed the world we live in forever. But, day-by-day and week-by-week we learned how to adjust and adapt to this change. We all learned to wear a mask, social distance, and wash our hands often to keep each other safe. We completed the 2019-20 school year, graduated the Senior Class, and conducted Summer School. In August, we opened school and returned back to face-to-face instruction in September. We safely navigated the Fall Semester and moved into the Spring with hopes that the coronavirus numbers were decreasing and life would start to return to normal. Because of you and your efforts, Huston Academy has navigated the 2020-21 school year without any positive cases of Coronavirus entering our classrooms!! Job well done!!!
And now the “Spring” Semester turns into the “Winter” Semester and we are faced with another safety crisis: this bitterly cold week that is staring us in the face. To go along with the record cold temperatures there are two systems of precipitation that are expected to also arrive to wreak havoc by bringing in freezing rain, sleet, and snow. This mixture is expected to make our area look and feel more like the North Pole than North Texas.
We urge you and your family to please take this weather situation seriously and keep yourself and your family safe. We believe that travel will be very dangerous and in some instances, impossible! Please stay inside, stay warm, and stay safe!! We value the lives of each and every one of our Huston Family and we want nothing more than to see you back here at school… reading, writing, figuring, laughing, and loving!!
The administration of Huston Academy will closely monitor this dangerous situation and we will stay in contact with you throughout to keep you informed and to be at your service. We anticipate that the weather will make it impossible to have face-to-face instruction this coming week and we further anticipate declaring that we will move to remote asynchronous instruction for the duration of the week. Although, we are not ready to make that declaration yet, we wanted to let you know what is anticipated so that you, too, can begin to make plans for the week.
We will stay in contact with you through our normal means of messages, Remind, Facebook, Twitter, and the Huston Academy website. Please do not hesitate to let us know if we can be of assistance to any of you in our Huston Family!! Stay warm and stay safe!!
